About First LEGO LeagueFLL stands for First LEGO League, which is a tournament that children aged 9-16 can take part in across the globe. There are three main parts of FLL: The Project, the Robotics, and the Core Values. For the project and robotics, there is a different theme each year, and this year it is Trash Trek. For the Project, teams have to identify, and create an innovation for a problem. This year it is about rubbish. After you have an innovation, you share your idea with people it might affect. Then you present your idea to the judges on the day of the competition.
Every team competes in a Regional Tournament. Then, those who win, and sometimes the runners up, will move on to the Nationals. The winners and runners up of that are invited to either the European Championships or the World Championships, the winners of which become either the European or even the World Champions! Since winning the Runners Up award at the UK and Ireland Nationals, we have been invited to the European Championships and will compete there this May! About the Team |
We are a team of four home-educated children competing in First LEGO League. Our team has an excellent combination of both experienced builders and programmers, which makes it an all-round team ready for anything!
Oliver Langton One of the team's main builders, Oliver has a lot of experience with all kinds of hardware and is partly responsible for the build of the robot. Aaron Cuthbertson The main programmer on the team, Aaron is responsible for both Mindstorms programming and the coding required for our prototype; but he also has plenty of ideas for the project too. Kyran Richards The only one on the team who has experience with the Raspberry Pi, which came in useful with our prototype. Kyran is the other main builder on the team, and him and Oliver are in charge of the build for the robot. Elye Cuthbertson Elye, who is the one who lines up and sets off the robot, has years of experience of FLL, and has some great ideas for the project. Elye is also the website designer and designed the team leaflet. |
